Sacred space doesn't have to be somewhere grandiose! It's about us making that space sacred. Your sacred space can be as simple as a special spot in your home. Maybe your favourite chair where you read. Or a corner of your garden where you feel peaceful. Or perhaps a tree you always visit on your walks in your local park or forest. It can also be all of these and many more. One of my sacred spaces is one of the corners of a room in our home, where I sit to meditate and it brings me instant peace as soon as I sit down. It's also my space that sparks my creative ideas or when I need some "pick me up energy". I made this corner sacred with meaningful objects that represent different energies that are important to me and bring me balance, peace, creativity and harmony. We all have different views of what is sacred to us and how we can make something sacred. But the sacred is also within all of us and we can make every space sacred just with our own presence. So in essence, sacred space is a meaningful space we create with mindfulness, devotion and intention. Usually items that have meaning and purpose, items we collected or can connect with, can be added to the sacred space we create. In addition, we can add different items to represent elements of nature (candle for fire, bowl of water for water, feather for air, stone or crystal for earth), other items from nature (leaves, cones, shells) or statue for a deity or anything else you like to focus your mind on. All these helps us create a meaningful and inviting space. The choice what items and how you create the sacred space is yours. Select any item that speaks to you about the subject you wish to honour in the space you create. It can reflect your own relationship with deity, nature or any other purpose. The practice of creating, maintaining and using a sacred space induces a devotional atmosphere, and provides a space of calm and focus. Before performing Sacred Blessing Ritual, adorn yourself with special clothes, wear your special scent, if you have time shower or at least wash your hands and imagine how the water running over your hands is cleansing you on the energy level, preparing you for the ritual. After you created your sacred space, light the candles and your favourite incense. If you have your own personal spiritual practice for centring and connecting with your inner wisdom, do that practice to start with. If you don't have one yet, then I suggest you do the following practice: “Take three deep breaths, in through the nose, exhaling out through your mouth. Feeling the earth beneath you and stretching yourself up to cosmos.” Invite the energy of nature / your guides / the elements / whoever or whatever you wish to, join you in the space to guide you for the Sacred Blessing Ritual. Listen to the Sacred Blessing Ritual Guided Visualisation and perform the ritual. After you finished with the ritual, close the space by giving thanks the elements / guides for being present in your space and guiding you, contributing their energies to the ritual. Blow out the candle and imagine how the energies you created in your sacred space are going up and spreading out to the surroundings and the wider community, spreading the magic, healing and joy. Eat and drink something to ground yourself and do some mundane work.
